Dave was a one-puppy litter and the product of a tight linebreeding on the Wycliff/Tasha pedigree. He was the first mastiff to receive broad recognition from both the judges and from the Mastiff breeders. In his first year in the ring, he broke the breed point record. In his second year in the ring, he became the first mastiff to be No#1 in all systems and after winning his second National Specialty he was the first to win two independent Nationals. This is only matched to date by his Grandson, Butler. As a Stud dog, his career was very short. There is only 2 years and two months from his first litter to his last and he was only bred to 16 different bitches. However, in this short span he has still produced more champions than any other dog to date. He was also the top producer for 1991, 1992, and 1993. More important is the quality of his offspring. Dave kids have been the predominant factor in the ring and in the whelping box since 1991. A total list of accomplishments would be too extensive to list here and I am sure I would leave somebody out. Dave was owned and loved by our friend Roger Barkley and we are forever in his debt for giving us the opportunity to prove and share Dave's magnificence.
